Kansas Jayhawks
- Key Returners: Marcus Garrett, Ochai Agbaji, David McCormack, Tristan Enaruna, Jalen Wilson
- Key Losses: Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, Silvio De Sousa, Isaiah Moss
- Key Newcomers: Bryce Thompson, Latrell Jossell
Kansas went 28-3 overall and a near-perfect 17-1 in conference play and enters the new season as a +2000 pick to win it all. The bad news is that the Jayhawks lost their best two players from last season’s team in Udoka Azubuike and Devin Dotson. Still, head coach Bill Self inherits a four-star recruit in shooting guard Bryce Thompson and a three-star recruit in point guard Latrell Jossell. The Jayhawks need junior two guard Ochai Abigal to step up after he put up 10.0 points per game a year ago and expect better production from senior point guard Marcus Garrett (9.2 points, 4.6 assists).
Baylor Bears
- Key Returners: Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, Macio Teague, Mark Vital, Tristan Clark, Matthew Mayer
- Key Losses: Freddie Gillespie
- Key Newcomers: LJ Cryer, Dain Dainja, Zach Loveday, Adam Flagler (Presbyterian)
Baylor enters the 2020-21 campaign as the national preseason No. 1 after going 26-4 overall and 15-3 in conference play last season for head coach Scott Drew. The Bears only loss from last seasons’s team was Freddie Gillespie (9.6 ppg), so Baylor is completely brimming with talent in Waco.
Baylor’s three leading scorers are back after Jared Butler, Macio Teague and Davion Mitchell put up 16.0, 13.9 and 9.9 points per game respectively a year ago. If Baylor can get big seasons out of their frontcourt, then they could cash in on their +1200 odds to win the 2021 national championship.
West Virginia Mountaineers
- Key Returners: Miles McBride, Emmitt Matthews Jr, Derek Culver, Oscar Tshiebwe, Jordan McCabe
- Key Losses: Jermaine Haley, Chase Harler
- Key Newcomers: Kedrian Johnson (JUCO), Isaiah Cottrell, Taj Thweatt
The Mountaineers went 21-10 overall and 9-9 in conference play and enter the 2020-21 campaign as a +2200 pick to win it all under head coach Bib Huggins. West Virginia only lost two players to graduation, but returns its top three scorers in Oscar Tshiebwe (11.2 ppg), Derek Culver (10.4 ppg) and Miles McBride (9.5 ppg).
Oklahoma Sooners
- Key Returners: De’Vion Harmon, Alondes Williams, Austin Reaves, Brady Manek, Kur Kuath
- Key Losses: Kristian Doolittle, Jamal Bieniemy
- Key Newcomers: Trey Phipps
Oklahoma went 19-12 overall and 9-9 in conference play a year ago under head coach Lon Kruger. Unfortunately, the Sooners enter the new season without its leading scorer from last season in Kristian Doolittle (15.8 ppg), although second leading scorer Austin Reaves is back (14.7 ppg) as is third leading scorer Brady Manek (14.4 ppg). Oklahoma also adds a three-star recruit in point guard Trey Phipps.
Texas Longhorns
- Key Returners: Matt Coleman, Courtney Ramey, Andrew Jones, Jase Febres, Jericho Sims, Kai Jones
- Key Losses: None
- Key Newcomers: Greg Brown
Texas went 19-12 overall and 9-9 in Big 12 matchups under head coach Shaka Smart, although they’ve never quite reached the title contending status he was hired to help them reach. The good news is that the Longhorns return their three leading scorers from last season’s squad in Matt Coleman (12.7 ppg), Andrew Jones (11.5 ppg) and Courtney Ramey (10.9 ppg).
Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Key Returners: Kyler Edwards, Terrance Shannon Jr
- Key Losses: Davide Moretti, Jahmius Ramsey, Chris Clarke, TJ Holyfield
- Key Newcomers: Nimari Burnett, Micah Peavy, Marcus Santos-Silva (VCU), Joel Ntambwe (UNLV), Mac McClung (Georgetown)
Texas Tech went 18-13 overall and 9-9 in conference play last season and enters the 2020-21 season as a +1800 pick to win it all. The bad news is that the Red Raiders lost three of their top five scorers including their two best players in Jahmius Ramsey and Davide Moretti. Kyler Edwards is back after putting up 11.4 points per game and Terrance Shannon Jr. is as well after averaging 9.8 points per contest. Still, head coach Chris Beard will have his hands full this coming campaign.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
- Key Returners: Isaac Likekele, Kalib Boone
- Key Losses: Cameron McGriff, Lindy Waters, Thomas Dziagwa
- Key Newcomers: Cade Cunningham, Rondel Walker, Keylan Boone, Donovan Williams, Matthew Alexander-Moncrief
Oklahoma State went 17-14 last season, but just 7-11 in conference play under head coach Mike Boynton.
The Cowboys bring back leading scorer Isaac Likekele (21.0 ppg) but lost second and third leading scorers Cameron McGriff and Yori Anei. With five new players joining the squad, it will be a year of change for the Cowboys no doubt!
TCU Horned Frogs
- Key Returners: Francisco Farabello, PJ Fuller, RJ Nembhard, Kevin Samuel
- Key Losses: Desmond Bane, Jaire Grayer
- Key Newcomers: Terren Frank, Kevin Easley (Chattanooga), Charles O’Bannon (USC), Eddie Lampkin
TCU went 16-15 overall but just 7-11 in Big 12 games. The Horned Frogs return leading scorer RJ Nembhard (19.0 ppg), but lose Desmond Baine’s 16.0 points per game. Third and fourth leading scorers Kevin Samuel and OJ Fuller are both back after averaging an identical 7.0 points per contest for head coach Jamie Dixon.
Iowa State Cyclones
- Key Returners: Rasir Bolton, Tre Jackson, Solomon Young, George Conditt
- Key Losses: Tyrese Haliburton
- Key Newcomers: Tyler Harris (Memphis), Xavier Foster, Dudley Blackwell, Jaden Walker, Jalen Coleman-Lands (DePaul), Javan Johnson (Troy)
Iowa State went 12-19 overall and 5-13 in conference play last season and lost a legitimate superstar in NBA first round draft pick Tyrese Haliburton (15.2 ppg). Second and third leading scorers Rasir Bolton (14.7 ppg) and Solomon Young (10.1 ppg) are both back, along with every other member from last season’s squad.
Kansas State Wildcats
- Key Returners: Mike McGuirl, Dajuan Gordon, Antonio Gordon, Montavious Murphy
- Key Losses: Cartier Diarra, Xavier Sneed, Makol Mawien

Kansas State went a dismal 10-21 overall and a pitiful 3-15 in Big 12 contests. More importantly, the Wildcats lost their three best players from last season’s team and will be starting over from scratch in 2020-21.
