NCAAF 2021 Season: Top 25 Wagering Options & Analysis Update

It’s hard to believe how much effect an Alabama loss can have on the college football rankings. When #1 Alabama lost to unranked Texas A&M last Saturday, it sent shockwaves through the college football world.

There was a ton of movement within the top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25 polls. Alabama’s loss will also give some new outlooks on the College Football Playoff standings. Let’s take a look at how the new Top 10 looks, and we’ll also give you an NCAAF betting prediction for the upcoming week.

Top 25 College Football Teams – Updated Analysis and Betting Opportunities

The Top 10 Looks a Little Different This Week

As we mentioned earlier, the Alabama loss has shaken up the Top 10 this week. The Georgia Bulldogs have now moved to the top of the polls. After another dominating performance from their defense in a 34-10 victory over #18 Auburn, the Dawgs now are in the driver’s seat.

They have a tough game with Kentucky this weekend, so we’ll see if they can handle being at the top of the mountain.

With their victory over #4 Penn State, the Iowa Hawkeyes moved up to #2 in this week’s poll. The Hawkeyes have one of the top defensive squads in the country, but if they want to make a playoff run, they’ll need to get better on the offensive side of the ball.

Cincinnati moved up to #3 this week. The Bearcats crushed Temple and will now look to continue with their conference schedule. They’ve traditionally had issues with this week’s opponent, Central Florida.

Coming in at #4 is the Oklahoma Sooners. They had a wild, come-from-behind victory over Texas in the Red River Rivalry game. The Sooners haven’t made winning easy, but they continue to win games. Alabama dropped to #5 this week. They still have a clear path to the playoffs if they can win the SEC.

Don’t look now, but here comes the Ohio State Buckeyes. Coming in at #6 this week, the Buckeyes look like the best team in the Big 10. They have some challenging games ahead, but if they can win out, they’d face Iowa in the Big 10 title game. With their loss to Iowa, Penn State dropped to #7.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Michigan, Oregon, and Michigan State. The Big 10 East will be a slugfest, like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State all still have to play each other. We’ll see a lot more change in the Top 10 before all is said and done.

This Week’s Betting Prediction

Central Florida will travel to Cincinnati to take on the #3 Bearcats this Saturday. 20.5 points favor Cincinnati. Whenever these two get together, things can get a little testy. The last two times these two have met, the Bearcats have won by three points each time.

UCF has played everyone closes this season. Gus Malzahn has nothing to lose in this one so that we could see all sorts of trickery. While we like the Bearcats to win this one, we don’t think they’ll cover the spread. Take the Knights and the points.
