Through the first quarter of the NHL season, we are starting to see teams develop a very definite identity. There are some who routinely get involved in shootouts, while others rely heavily on their goaltending and defense. Some have made a fortress out of home ice, while others are proving to be road warriors. What it all means is that we now have a better idea of how specific matchups will look, which in turn makes picking out the games that we like the look of for the coming week that much easier. There is a lot to like on the NHL schedule for the coming week, so it’s time to take our weekly look at the must bet games on the NHL schedule for the next few days. NHL Betting Odds – Games Analysis, Top Picks, Previews for Week 7 Matches

Las Vegas Golden Knights at St. Louis Blues – Monday

As it stands right now, both of these teams would be in the playoffs if they started tomorrow. That said, neither team is probably entirely happy with where they are sitting in their divisional races right now. The Golden Knights ended last week with back-to-back wins and hit the road with a 4-3 record away from home. The St. Louis Blues need to get back to winning after going just 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.

Philadelphia Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning – Tuesday

Yes, it’s still very early in the season, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have not looked like a Stanley Cup champion just yet. That said, there are signs that might be changing, as they have gone 7-1-2 in their last 10 games. The Flyers ended last week with 2 straight losses, but they are hitting the road with a decent 4-2-1 record away from their own building.

Minnesota Wild at New Jersey Devils – Wednesday

We have a very tight race going on at the top of the Central Division and it is the Minnesota Wild who hold the lead right now with an 11-6-1 record to start the season. They have, though, lost 2 in a row coming into this week. There is a gap starting to open up between the top 3 and the rest of the pack in the Metropolitan Division, with the New Jersey Devils on the wrong side of that, so they need a win to keep in touch.

Florida Panthers at Washington Capitals – Friday

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, and the NHL is taking the day off, so let’s move on to Friday and pick out a couple of games there. This is the one that jumps off the page, as it features two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference right now. At 13-2-3, the Panthers have the best record in the league right now, but the Capitals are not far behind, going 11-3-5 to start the season.

Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Islanders – Friday

Our last game for this week is a Metropolitan Division matchup featuring a pair of teams looking to get rolling after a less than stellar start. The Penguins are 2nd bottom in the division, but they are not as out of it as the standings suggest. They are coming into this week as winners of 2 in a row. The Islanders have a great new arena, but they are in danger of being cut adrift from the pack after losing 6 in a row.
