NASCAR 2022 Cup Series: Goodyear 400 Betting Odds & Analysis

The NASCAR season is now very much in full swing, with 11 races already in the books. This weekend will see the drivers descend upon Richmond for the 12th race of the season, and it’s fair to suggest that we have a great battle going on at the top of the driver standings. No one driver has really taken the season by the scruff of the neck, with wins being spread out across several different drivers. That makes things fun for the fans, but it does make it a little more difficult to predict a winner in any given weekend. We are still going to try, though, so let’s take a closer look at the Goodyear 400, which goes of on Saturday, and the drivers who are currently in as the favorites along with their NASCAR Odds.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for Goodyear 400 Race

Kyle Larson (+480)

It was always going to be tough for Kyle Larson to even get close to matching what he delivered last season. 2021 was nothing but total dominance for Larson, as he won 9 races, including 4 of the final 5 in the playoffs, to walk away as the Cup Series champion. He does have a win under his belt this season and has been consistently running in the top 5 and top 10, but he still finds himself down in 8th in the driver standings, which tell you just how tight things have been in the early going. In his two runs at Darlington in 2021, Larson finished 2nd in both, so expect him to be in the mix at the end.

Martin Truex Jr. (+710)

In terms of Cup Series consistency, it’s impossible to look beyond Martin Truex Jr. and what he has accomplished at this level. Since winning the Cup Series in 2017, Truex Jr. has gone on to finish 2nd overall in 3 of the 4 years following that victory. He is a little off the pace this season, sitting down in 7th in the driver standings, and is still looking for his first win of the season. This might be the weekend he breaks that goose egg, though, as he won this corresponding race last year, while also finishing 4th art Darlington in the second race there in 2021.

Denny Hamlin (+770)

If any driver deserves to win a Cup Series Championship, you would have to say that it is Denny Hamlin. He is consistently in the hunt all the way to the end of the season, but he always seems to find a way to come up just short. The fact of the matter, though, is that he needs to get in gear pretty quickly this season, as he is well off the lead right now, sitting down in 23rd in the driver standings. He did have a win at Darlington last season, as well as finishing 4th in this corresponding race, so this might be his breakout weekend.

Chase Elliott (+770)

It’s not often that we bet on Chase Elliott to win, as he is certainly not the most prolific driver on the Cup Series circuit. That said, he always seems to find a way to hang around the leading pack and pick up points, which is how he won a title in 2020. He was at the top of the driver standings heading into last weekend’s race, and he upped his lead by taking the checkered flag in that one. He has been a consistent top 10 finisher at Darlington, so look for him to be in the mix again.
