NHL Odds & Picks for August 4th Matches

With the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs in full swing following Monday’s night’s opening slate of action, it’s time to find out who’s on the ice tonight and which teams are offering the best value against their respective NHL odds. With six huge matchups going down on Tuesday night, let’s get started.

NHL Odds & Picks – Games Highlights, Top Picks, Previews

Florida vs NY Islanders at 12:00 PM ET

The Isles snapped a seven-game skid by taking Game 1 of this series 2-1 on Saturday to drop Florida to 2-5 over their last seven games. New York has also won five straight in this rivalry while limiting the Panthers to a lone goal in each of the last three meetings. The Under is 12-2-2 in the last 16 meetings between these two and I like that to play out again as New York gets the one goal win.

Arizona vs Nashville at 2:30 PM ET

Arizona took the opener over Nashville in this series 4-3 on Sunday, but these two rivals have alternated wins and losses over their last four meetings while splitting their last 10 meetings evenly. With that said, I like the Predators to rebound tonight while the Over cashes in for total bettors. These two have combined to score an identical seven goals in three of their last four meetings.

Columbus vs Toronto at 4:00 PM ET

Columbus used their fourth-ranked defense to shut down Toronto’s third-ranked offense and I believe they’re up for a repeat performance in Game 2 seeing as how the Maple Leafs have been limited to one goal or less in four straight games while getting shut out twice during the span. The Blue Jackets have won six of 10 in this rivalry while holding Toronto to an identical two goals in five of those victories. Defense gets it done again.

Calgary vs Winnipeg at 6:45 PM ET

Calgary took Game 1 of this series 4-1 on Saturday before Winnipeg bounced back to win Game 2 3-2 on Monday night. The Jets also have the only top-10 unit in this affair as their defense ranks 10th in goals allowed (2.8 gpg). Winnipeg has won three of the last four meetings in this rivalry and I like the value the Jets are offering as an underdog in Game 3. The Jets get the narrow win as a slight underdog, mostly because Calgary is offensively challenged.

Carolina vs NY Rangers at 8:00 PM ET

Carolina got past New York 3-2 in Game 1 on Saturday before backing that victory up with an even more impressive 4-1 win on Monday night. The streaking Hurricane have won five straight while the reeling Rangers have dropped three in a row and seven of their last nine games overall. The good news for the Rangers is that they won five straight in this rivalry until dropping the last two. While I like the Canes to win this series and advance, the underdog in this rivalry is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. I’m going with New York tonight out of sheer desperation.

Minnesota vs Vancouver at 10:45 PM ET

Minnesota jumped all over Vancouver to take Game 1 via a 3-0 shutout on Sunday. The Wild have now won two straight, four of five and seven of their last nine games overall. On the flip side of the coin, Vancouver is struggling at the worst possible time, having lost two of their last three and six of their last eight games overall. While a whopping 64 percent of public bettors are currently locked in on the Canucks winning tonight’s contest, I’m going with Minnesota t get it done again, seeing as how they’ve gone a near-perfect 5-1 in the last six meetings while dominating on Sunday despite the fact that the Canucks are statistically better at both ends of the ice. Minnesota gets it done again, this time, in a high-scoring affair.
