The Top Five Golfers To Bet On

Hideki Matsuyama +3000

The world No. 20 finished second to Tiger Woods in this event a year ago, three strokes behind the reigning champ. More importantly, The 28-year-old Japanese star finished a solid T17 at the U.S. Open last month while recording a T21 at last week’s CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. In 20 appearances lat season, Matsuyama recorded one second place finish, a pair of third place finishes and five Top-10 finishes, so he looks about due to get back in the winner’s circle to me.

Tiger Woods +3300

While Woods didn’t play in last week’s CJ Cup and he missed the cut in his last event at the U.S. Open, the world No. 28 should be quite hungry for the win here, not to mention he’s got some excellent history on this course. Woods recorded a stupendous five wins in his last 12 appearances at Sherwood from 2000 to 2013, which annually hosts the Hero World Challenge. While he’s finished outside the top-40 five times in his last six events, I like Woods to have a great shot because he knows this course like the back of his hand.

Webb Simpson +2800

The world No. 7 didn’t play in the CJ Cup last week, but Simpson finished T8 in the 2020 U.S. Open and T13 at the Shriners Open in his last two events. In 14 events last season, the 35-year-old North Carolina native recorded two wins, one second place finish, one third place finish and eight Top-10 finishes while making the cut 12 times. Simpson has been absolutely on fire lately, even if no one is talking about the 2012 U.S. Open champion!

Xander Schauffele +1000

The 26-year-old world No. 8 comes into this tournament fresh off a second place finish at last week’s CJ CUP and that performance comes on the heels of his fifth place finish in the 2020 US Open. In 18 events last season, Schauffele recorded 16 Top-25 finishes, seven Top-10 finishes, one third place finish and a trio of second place finishes. For me, Schauffele, who finished 10th in this event last year, just looks like a player that is ready to get back in the winner’s circle this coming weekend.

Jon Rahm +1000

I’m usually not overly fond of picking prohibitive favorites in golf, but the world No. 2 looks like he could very well cash in on his value-packed odds. The 25-year-old Rahm  finished T17 at the CJ Cup last weekend and a solid T23 at the 2020 US Open in his previous event. In 15 appearances last season, Rahm recorded a pair of victories, one second place finish, one third place finish and eight Top-10 finishes. I have no doubt that Rahm will have a chance to claim the 2020 Zozo Championship hardware this coming weekend.
