We’re writing this blog with a caveat. On Wednesday, the College Football Playoff committee said a team could win the National Championship this season via forfeit. If a Covid breakout happens on a team, and that team can’t play, the team must forfeit. A lot can happen from now until Dec. 31 when the Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Cotton Bowl and Georgia battles Michigan in the Orange Bowl. Keep that in mind as you read who we believe throws down in the 2022 College Football National Championship. Let’s get right to it so you can bet against the College Football National Championship odds.

Alabama sneaks by Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl
After cruising past then #1 Georgia 41-24 in the SEC Championship, the College Football Playoff committee made the Crimson Tide the 1-seed. Bama will head into the Cotton Bowl a -13 ½ favorite to beat the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Those backing Bama should realize that Cincinnati is a solid football team. Luke Fickell’s squad went undefeated after trouncing Houston 35-20 in the AAC Championship.
Houston lost just twice this season. So the victory was over a legit team. Not only that, but the Bearcats dominated Notre Dame in South Bend.
The Irish finished the season ranked #5. The Bearcats are a great play to cover the spread.
But in the end, Alabama should eke out a win. Nick Saban is a master coach and, no doubt, the best quarterback in college football will step onto the field for Bama.
No team can stop Bryce Young and Alabama’s offense. Cincinnati will try, but the Bearcats allow a less than stellar 137.5 rushing yards per. So if Cincy tries to stop Young from passing the ball, they must deal with Young’s rushing ability.
Michigan upsets Georgia
Georgia had played as the number one team in the nation since after Week 1. In hindsight, though, we may have jumped to conclusions after the Dawgs upset Clemson 10-3 in their first game.
Dabo Swinney’s bunch didn’t have a good season. Not only that, but the best team the Bulldogs played this season were the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee aren’t very good. Kentucky played well. But the Wildcats aren’t as good as the Texas A&M Aggies or the Ole Miss Rebels.
So when UGA lost to Alabama, it shouldn’t have surprised us. The Bulldogs hadn’t played against many good teams during the season.
Georgia could make amends with a victory over Michigan, but the odds make the Wolverines an overlay pick. Michigan dominated their biggest rivals, Ohio State, in their final game of the regular season.
Then the Wolverines dusted the very good Iowa Hawkeyes. Michigan shows a single loss, to rival Michigan State in a game they should have won.
The Wolverines are better than Georgia. The SEC had a down year while the Big Ten produced quality squads like Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue.
National Championship Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide vs Michigan Wolverines
If our prediction is correct, expect plenty of great storylines.
Alabama’s Nick Saban versus Michigan’s John Harbaugh. Bryce Young and Alabama’s offense against Aidan Hutchinson and the Michigan defense. The best from the SEC versus the best from the Big Ten.
Two of the most storied programs in college football history throwing down for the title. Alabama versus Michigan will be epic!
