Rays hold off Astros to win ALCS

After the 2-1 win over the Houston Astros, the Rays looked to be in a good position to win the pennant. In Game 2 and Game 3, Tampa left no doubt that they were the better team. They beat Houston 4-2 and 5-2. But then, the wheels fell off.

The Stros won 3 in a row, including dominating Tampa Bay 7-4 in Game 6. Somehow, someway, the Tampa Bay Rays stepped it up in Game 7. They beat Houston 4-2 and won the American League Pennant.

Now, the Astros hope they can take it to the L.A. Dodgers. Neither Tampa nor Los Angeles have set their rotations for the World Series, which starts on Tuesday, Oct. 20. For Tampa, manager Kevin Cash will lean on pitching.

During the regular season, the Rays rotation had a 3.56 team ERA. That’s very good because Tampa Bay played against the two top hitting teams in baseball, the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, due to the COVID affected regular season schedule.

Dodgers provide most impressive series comeback in franchise history to win NLCS

Unlike the Tampa Bay Rays, the Los Angeles Dodgers found themselves down 1-3 in their series against the Atlanta Braves. Los Angeles rallied to win 3 in a row. Now, Dave Roberts’ squad heads to the World Series for the third time in the past four seasons.

Los Angeles posted the best team ERA and the second best bullpen ERA during the regular season. The Dodgers’ starting rotation yielded a 3.02 ERA while the bullpen’s ERA was at 2.74. That should give Los Angeles’ fans plenty to be excited about.

The other reason SoCal baseball fans should be bullish on the Dodgers chances is because the offense averaged more runs during the regular season than any team in baseball. The Dodgers scored 5.82 per.

Offense, defense, pitching, experience, there’s not a lot to dislike about the 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers. That’s why L.A. will enter the World Series a favorite against the Houston Astros.

2020 World Series first pitch is on Tuesday, October 20

Dodgers versus Rays projects as one of the most hard fought World Series in recent memory. The Dodgers have the lone true ace in Clayton Kershaw. But Kershaw has a spotty history when it comes to throwing in the postseason.

Clayton also has suffered back spasms during the playoffs. Dave Roberts must get more creative than Kevin Cash in this series, making the Rays a nice pick at the odds. Then again, the Dodgers showed no signs of quitting against the Atlanta Braves. So, don’t expect the winner to cruise at any point in this Fall Classic.

If you like the Dodgers, back them. If you’re an overlay player, go with the Rays. No matter your style of wagering, the 2020 World Series has a lot to offer to everyone!
