Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License and Silk Sonic’s Leave The Door Open lead the pack
Rodrigo is the hottest thing in music. She’s on fire, which is why Driver’s License is a lock. There’s nothing really special about the song. But it is catchy and Grammy voters, for some reason, love catchy.
Silk Sonic’s Leave The Door Open is also catchy. Like Drivers License, again, nothing special. But the musicianship and production value are great. So Silk Sonic and Rodrigo will grab noms.
Lil Nas X’s Montero – Call Me By Your Name and Dupa Lipa’s feat. Da Baby’s Levitating will get a lot of votes
Call Me By Your Name and Levitating might be locks, but before calling them locks we want to say something about both songs. They’re both great records, no doubt, but neither is as different as anything Lil Nas X and Dupa Lipa have done in the past.
So if popularity wins out, yes, both will get nominations. If Grammy voters are looking for something different, they might turn their back on Call Me By Your Name and Levitating to reward nominations to a couple of the below artists.
Ariana Grande, Doja Cat feat. SZA, Cardi B. feat. Megan Thee Stallion, and Billie Eilish also have big chances
Grande is always a threat. Her song, Positions, is an interesting take on the whole woman staying at home thing. Grammy voters could surprise by handing it a nomination.
Doja Cat’s and SZA’s Kiss Me More might be guaranteed a nom. Why? It’s the catchiest thing that came out last year. It’s impossible to get out of your head.
Cardi B.’s and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP was the most controversial song to hit the airwaves in a long time. In hindsight, it shouldn’t have been because Snoop Dog, Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy E wrote and rapped songs like WAP back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
Ah, but WAP is from a woman’s point-of-view. Grammy voters should turn their back on the antiquated way of thinking, that woman can’t create records about sex, and hand as many nominations as possible to WAP.
