Early Triple Crown Betting Predictions: Baffert and Cox Hold a Pair of Aces

2021 Horse Racing Triple Crown

  • When: May 1, 2021 – June 5, 2021

Kentucky Derby Early Prediction

We don’t know which of Bob Baffert’s three-year-old will go off the chalk to win the Kentucky Derby. Baffert could saddle up to six runners: Life Is Good, Spielberg, Medina Spirit, Concert Tour, Bezos, and Hozier. Bezos has yet to run. Concert Tour broke his maiden last Friday.

The reason we’re concentrating on Bob is because whichever horse leads Baffert’s contingent most likely will be the favorite to win on the first Saturday in May. Right now, Life Is Good looks as solid as they get.

The Into Mischief sired colt should be in the lead as they turn for home. Essential Quality, who will run in the Risen Star on February 13, should be closing in on Life Is Good. Which horse takes the Run for the Roses?

We’re going with Essential Quality. The Brad Cox trained horse has all the makings of a Kentucky Derby winner. Quality gives Godolphin their first ever Kentucky Derby winner.

Preakness Early Prediction

A lot of Derby contenders will drop off the trail after finishing up the track at Churchill Downs. One horse that won’t is second-place Kentucky Derby finisher Life Is Good. Bob Baffert has won the Preakness Stakes seven times.

Life Is Good will get an easy lead in the Preakness. No horse will want to go with him. Although jockey Luis Saez aboard Essential Quality will try to keep him close, the Tapit sired colt won’t have the early guns to come close to Life Is Good.

With an easier lead than what he got in the Derby, and benefitting from Pimlico’s tight turns, Life Is Good holds off Essential Quality by a length to win the Preakness.

Belmont Early Prediction

Expect a field of 6, maybe 7, when Essential Quality and Life Is Good take their rivalry to Big Sandy. No horse will upset the rubber match between the two best 3-year-olds in the nation.

Godolphin will enter a rabbit to push Life Is Good early. It won’t matter. The Baffert trainee will have grown into his frame. Bigger, faster, and more Authentic-like than in early May, Life Is Good figures to bury the pace competition before they turn for home.

While Essential Quality picks up his feet and makes a menacing move, jockey Mike Smith aboard Life Is Good will shake the reigns on the Preakness winner. The cue does its trick as Life Is Good cruises to a six length victory over Derby winner Essential Quality.

Again, it’s early, but this is the likeliest scenario. Essential Quality runs down Life Is Good to win the Derby. Life Is Good gets his revenge in the Preakness and takes the rubber match in the Belmont.
