NFL 2021 Season: Falcons vs Jaguars Betting Analysis & Prediction

Neither the Jacksonville Jaguars nor the Atlanta Falcons look like they’ll be making a Super Bowl run anytime soon. The Jags are led by a rookie quarterback, while the Falcons have an aging veteran at the helm. On Sunday, these two teams will meet in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars will host the Falcons at TIAA Bank Field. Check out our NFL Betting analysis for the upcoming match between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NFL Betting Preview for Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville

Atlanta Falcons Betting Analysis

The 4-6 Falcons had a stretch a few weeks back that made many think that maybe they could make a run at the playoffs, but after a thrashing by the Dallas Cowboys and another loss, it looks like Atlanta may be headed towards a higher draft pick. The Falcons’ offense hasn’t been really strong this season. Ryan has played well, but his limited arsenal of weapons hasn’t helped the offensive situation. Calvin Ridley has left the team to deal with mental health issues, while the running game has been average at best. Cordarrelle Patterson and rookie tight end Kyle Pitts have been the offensive leaders for the Falcons.

As has been the case for many years in Atlanta, the Falcons defense has been atrocious. They are near the league’s bottom in points allowed, and they’re giving up over 28 points per game. With no pass rush and a secondary that has been taken advantage of all season long, the Falcons can’t seem to stop anyone from scoring.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Analysis

While everyone knows Urban Meyer’s issues, the Jaguars have survived that and are trudging through the season. The top pick in last year’s draft, Trevor Lawrence, has made his fair share of rookie mistakes. The team has considered revamping its offense to better play to Lawrence’s strengths. Running back James Robinson has been one of Jacksonville’s top offensive weapons this season, as he has rushed for nearly 600 yards with seven touchdowns. Marvin Jones Jr., Laviska Shenault, and newly-acquired tight-end Dan Arnold are Lawrence’s top receivers. They are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league, but this is a defense they should be able to score against.

Defensively, the Jaguars have been better this season than expected. They have the makings of an excellent unit down the line, and with some offseason acquisitions and draft picks, the Jaguars could have a very good defensive unit in the years to come.

Prediction

With both of these teams struggling this season, the Las Vegas oddsmakers have determined that this game is a Pick’Em game. Looking at some of the betting numbers shows us why they made it a Pick’Em game.

We don’t have a great reason, but we’re going to go with the Jacksonville Jaguars in this matchup. Atlanta has hit a very rough patch. After Dallas destroyed them, the Falcons have looked like a team ready for its season to end. Patterson will probably play on Sunday, but we still don’t think he will be enough to beat Jacksonville even if he does. The Jaguars win a close one.
