What You Can Bet On June 26 – June 28

UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker

25-6 Dustin Poirier is a -220 favorite to take down 20-8 Dan Hooker in Saturday’s main event at UFC Fight Night. The latest UFC Fight Night happens, again, at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Also on the card are bouts between Mike Perry versus Mickey Gall, and Brendan Allan taking on Kyle Daukaus. Shaun Woodson throws down against Julian Erosa while Gian Villante battles Maurice Green in the first couple of bouts on the main card.

This is the last UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada battles before Ultimate Fighting Championships heads to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The next four UFC promotions after Poirier – Hooker takes place at Yas Island, which Dana White has dubbed “Fight Island”.

UFC 251 happens on June 11 and UFC Fight Night Kattar vs. Ige takes place on July 15. We’ll have write-ups on Monday about those two events.

English Premier League soccer

Liverpool locked up their nineteenth English Premier League Championship after Chelsea upset Manchester City. Pool won the title in record fast fashion.

Nobody had ever won the EPL trophy as quickly as Liverpool did. There are seven match days left.

Will Pool rest now that they’ve won the title? The EPL champs battle Manchester City on Sunday.

Liverpool is a dog at +204. Bettors must consider both sides of the coin before taking the overlay odds. Are the odds truly overlaid if Pool has nothing to play for? Then again, Liverpool may want to dominate Man City.

In any case, it should be an interesting match.

La Liga soccer

Standings are much tighter in La Liga than they are in EPL. Real Madrid and Barcelona are knotted up. Each has 68 points.

Both have relatively easy battles this weekend. Barca takes on Celta de Vigo on Saturday. Real battles Espanyol.

Unless you’re a Real Madrid hater, you have to love how the squad has roared back post-Ronaldo.

After Ronaldo skipped to Juventus, most declared Real Madrid dead. Real is just as good as they were with Ronaldo.

They might be better. Sure, Zinedine Zidane and Gareth Bale are at each other’s throats. But a squad that includes Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, and the fantastic Isco can rock any soccer club on the planet.

Watching Barcelona and Real Madrid battle down the stretch is going to be fun!

Bundesliga & Serie A soccer action

The top club in the Bundesliga, Bayern secured their eighth straight crown this week. If Bayern beats Wolfsburg on Saturday, they will have won their seventeenth straight.

That’s a cause for celebration. But, Bayern can’t bathe in confetti for long.

The 2020-2021 Bundesliga Season starts on August 21. So, it’s not like Bayern can rest on their laurels for 6 months before heading back to the pitch.

There’s still some soccer to be played in Serie A. Juventus battles Lecce on Friday. Lazio, which is just 4 points behind Juvy on the Italian Serie A Standings, takes on Fiorentina on Saturday.

Pay attention to this fight for the Serie A title. It doesn’t have as much drama as Real Madrid versus Barcelona in La Liga, but it is interesting to see Juventus fight for a championship against an underdog.

Round 2 & 3 at the PGA Tour Travelers Championship

As of 10:37 am ET on Friday, Canadian McKenzie Hughes had a 3-stroke lead over Rory McIlroy at the Travelers Championship.

Ah, but McIlroy had yet to tee-off. When he does, Rory could turn the second round into his own playground.

Also, Xander Schauffele could have a say in the outcome. He’s at -8 through 11. Like every weekend, get ready for the Travelers Championship PGA Tournament to go down to the wire.

Churchill Downs Spring Meet closing day

Churchill ends their spring meet with plenty of graded race action. The featured Stephen Foster should come down to By My Standards, Tom’s d’Etat, and Owendale.

Unless you’re a horseplayer, make sure to read our horse racing write-up on the Churchill Downs races on June 27. We make picks for 3 of the graded races on the card, including the Stephen Foster.

NASCAR Cup Series at Pocono on June 27 & June 28

NASCAR closes out June with a couple of races. Saturday is the Pocono Organics 325. On Sunday, NASCAR runs the Pocono 350.

This weekend should be a Joe Gibbs Racing cause for celebration. Kyle Busch has 2 wins from the last 4 races at Pocono. Denny Hamlin has a victory. Martin Truex Jr. has the other win.

If you want to cash, think about backing a Gibbs driver to win on Saturday and Sunday.

Have a great weekend!
